Villetta Serra, residence of the Museo Biblioteca dell’Attore since 1982, is in the center of Genoa, Viale IV Novembre, 3, near Piazza Corvetto, in front of the Acquasola Park.
It was bought by the Comune di Genova in 1888 for 500.000 Lire from the Marquise Serra. The building is much like a little castle with a tower on one side. Inside the tower which is visible from everywhere in town, there is a spiral staircase that rises to the upper floors. There is also a basement as well as three upper floors and a lovely terrace with a fantastic view of Genoa from east to west. In the little garden is a big maritime pine.
The origin of this building is not known. We include here an article by Luigi Augusto Cervetto, printed in 1919, with a story about the building.
Villetta Serra was the residence of the Genoa Football Club from 1911 to 1924 and of the Club Italiano Alpino from 1927 to 1958.
